“Pax” by Sara Pennypacker #recommendedreading #amwriting

Today’s recommended read: Pax,” by Sara Pennypacker, published in 2016.

Where I acquired it: Paragraphs bookstore in Mount Vernon, Ohio.

From the jacket: “Pax and Peter have been inseparable ever since Peter rescued him as a kit. But one day the unimaginable happens. Peter’s dad enlists in the military and makes him return the fox to the wild.”

My overly simplistic take: Watership Down meets Hatchet.

Why I liked it: A simply written, fast-paced, evocative tale with dark underpinnings and positive messages.

Memorable line: “Because I am exactly where I should be, doing exactly what I should be doing. That is peace.”
